This article contains my view and is not related to my professional work.
In the past few years, I have seen several billionaires' lives and word some consequences, which I learned.
Most of them worked hard for their wealth to increase, but they missed the freedom their wealth provided.
There is a curve in life when people try to build their wealth to make it easier when they can enjoy the harvested fruit for their remaining life.
But most of them never stop; they continuously build their wealth, but they never enjoy it really. If they can purchase an over 100m yacht but only spend two weeks yearly on it, what is the cost/benefit ratio?
It is also true for total wealth. If I have X wealth, what can I spend monthly? It is a different question how will I spend the total usable amount?
For me, Monaco visit is always a gem; when I walk into the palace's garden, I see they created something which remains for the following centuries.
But how much does a Billionaire spend compared to the wealth, and how much freedom do they get?
If I see a good investment that typically gives 10% of income compared to the total asset, do they get access in the same quality, or their investment gives less and also take time from them, which I think is the most expensive?
For myself, the barrier is relatively low compared to these levels! I have completed calculating what I need to fulfill my preferred lifestyle. This financial freedom can be reached from Zero within a few years with a systematic investment strategy. After that I have more motivation to build something which has a greater good, than simply increase the numbers on my balance sheet.
I see several billionaires, especially in my home country, who build their wealth like no tomorrow, but they are not really using the wealth. However, there are also good examples of some people who not only build their wealth but also enjoy it and give back to society!
I think many people become more prisoners of their wealth than empowerment!
Hopefully, I will never reach that point! In the comment section, please describe how you define financial freedom and what you do with your freedom!
