Infrastructure

Datacenter networks, storage, latency, and the cost of getting architecture wrong. Written while running the systems, not after.

I spent the first decade of my career inside infrastructure — storage arrays, converged networks, virtualization stacks, and the databases everything else depended on. The articles here were written from that position, usually about a constraint nobody had named yet.

The recurring subject is not technology. It is the cost of a decision made too early: the wrong abstraction, the layer that looked free, the consolidation that moved the bottleneck instead of removing it.
