Before I left OTP Bank, my last keynote speech to my team, #ERFI, was about the era of Artificial Intelligence coming.
I described why learning the skill to utilize artificial intelligence is a foundational skill, as is today, using a web search.
It was back then in 2021. Three years later, with the rise of OpenAI, this time has finally come! That time, I created some concepts on how to use it to write code, but now the generative AI can generate code for us in several programming languages.
I now use it daily to write my new codes; while it can create complex solutions, it now takes equal time to write such writing from scratch.
Most programmers might tell me I'm wasting my time, but the journey is more about working hand in hand with artificial intelligence.
The beauty of these skills is that now, the AI models have about a 100-150 level of IQ. But in a year, it will double.
What do you think about yours?
How will yours scale?
So the advantage will come! Today, I learned how to enhance my prompts and have better results with fewer queries.
Sometimes, the prompt seems stuck in an infinite loop, but I can easily step out when I help resolve the problem.
It is the same when you review the code of a less senior programmer; however, it can also reveal some gems that you didn't use before.
It is peer programming. However, I still divide the code into different pieces.
I write the essential parts and unit tests for those essential parts with the AI, but I still write my intellectual properties.
I already feel empowered by AI. I can easily prompt a code piece for a PoC, which it develops. I test it and gain ideas. Next, I assemble a different PoC to test out and infuse the best from the prompts.
