A question always arises when we are talking about computational power increase. Just think about Moore's law, how technology performance increases over time. The question:

Why the hell we need this significant amount of computational power?

Last weekend I saw the presentation of Martine Rothblatt. She talked about biological computing, and it really started my imagination.

Just think over the current COVID situation. How much time we need to find drugs that effectively fight against the virus. What if I tell you we are still in the prehistoric age compared to future possibilities.

Now we are simulating on supercomputers how different compounds react to the virus. With automation, lab experiments work 7x24 and testing different combinations with a greater magnitude of speed. Not a surprise how a drug approval took 10 years in the past decade, now we can reach it in one year. We are still far from a perfect solution. Many things which crucial still not taken into consideration.

Just think about gender equality at clinical trials.

As we dig into the details, we see how small is what we know! We still don't understand how our body really works. With many drugs, we try to solve symptoms, not the root cause of the problem.

Dr. Stanislav Grof gave a great example of this. Imagine you driving your car, and suddenly check engine light appears! You go to the service. The oil leak in your engine, but they only cut the wire of the light, and tell you: you can go now! Would you be happy with this solution?

In the future, I expect a more detailed understanding. Imagine if we could simulate our full body on the molecule level. We could simulate how our body reacts to different combinations of changes. With quantum computing, we can see all possible combinations immediately! That will make real changes! With a proper simulation, we could have better advice on our daily routine also!

We have a long road on this journey, but it worth waiting for it! Until these technology evolutions, you should focus on longevity to survive!
