I think this year is changing everyone's life. Now the time has come when we can turn into our inner self. In the past decade in our continuously accelerate world, we forget to take care of ourselves and our environment. Now the virus outbreak teaches us a lesson! Stay home, and change your life!
In every aspect, our life changed. As an office worker, it was not to hard to convert my work to a home office. The only thing which suffers from this kind of work is communication. It is tough to replace nonverbal communication with well-written emails. But practicing is never enough!
The funniest part for me is the Video meetings. Now, as all of the participants are at home, the meeting timeframe shortened remarkably. As everyone working from home, no one wants to fill the meeting timeframe with meaningless sentences. We can focus on the essential topics, and when finished, close the meeting. The second most important thing is we eliminate the travel time. On average we have one or two additional hours which we can use on personal development.
These changes are also good for the environment. With the degradation of daily work travels, the environment cleaned itself. Good to see how wildlife appeared again near the cities. There is symbolic parallelism between how the current virus and our environment. The infection affects the lung. We eliminate our travels, and with this, we clean the lung of our Earth.
I hope, after the virus era, we will change our behavior and take care more about our environment.
Last but not least, the virus moved our focus on our health. We learned how to wash our hands. Why we need to do hand disinfection. If someone feels sick, we need to go home, to protect our team's health. These are basic things, but most of us didn't take care of before. Now it will be on our list from now.
These are was only the basics. Who more advanced realized the importance of the human immune system. We are worried because COV-19 has more than 20K causalities. But let's see more numbers for this year:
1.97 million deaths caused by cancer (13.5K today)1.2 million deaths caused by smoking600K deaths caused by alcohol400K deaths caused by HIV/AIDS275K suicidesFrom this perspective, we need to take care of our physical and mental health. I hope more of us will realize the importance of these things.
What can we do?
We need to find the proper balance in our life!
We need to find a profession that helps to find our Ikigai!
If we do what we like, we need to find a workplace that helps to find the right work/life balance for acceptable compensation.
If we love our profession, it is not hard to find a growth mindset. Everyone loves to learn things about what they like!
In our free time, we need to take care of ourselves!
Exercises help to keep ourselves on edge physically. Our body needs maintenance to work sharp.
Meditation helps to maintain our mind. With meditation, we can free up our thoughts. To have an excellent immune system, we need to relax enough. As many of us forget, we need to sleep enough. Not only in time, but more in quality. Just check how the sleep cycles come at night, and how much you have from them.
We need to take care of our mineral and vitamin intakes.
A holistic, integral mindset helps to keep balance in every aspect of our life. As more we take care, we will live in better health. As I have more time in this period, I decided to build an application that will help to take care of more of these things. It is hard to process all of this information, and find the relations. That's why we need computers, services, devices.
