Every year holiday season is great to summarize the knowledge collected within the past year. As I touched by the fantastic theory of Ken Wilber, this year, I followed the path on different in-depth topics of the Integral Theory. In the first months, I started with organizational evolution. Amazing, how the various small pieces draw a picture as you progress. You can identify different lines of growth within the organizational development over time. Fear transforms into trust, control transforms into servant leadership, hierarchy transforms into an interweaving network. All of these aspects resulting in a better performing faster organization.
You can imagine this is not a simple process. As everywhere, the devil is in the details. This spice called organizational culture. It is one of the most challenging areas of development. For this culture development, you can find an excellent starting point in the growth mindset.
As AI will conquer different fields, the importance of cultural pieces will rank more important!
As the growth mindset is an elementary part of our culture, it is no question self-development and continuous learning is a must for all of the colleagues. We realized the development focus must be moved from the technology to the soft skills. (One of my colleagues sentenced well: Soft-skill is the wrong word because to change it is the most challenging! )
We discussed with the senior colleagues, what is the most appropriate root cause which causes the most problems. We found the emotional part, which affects every information, decision. As we are humans, these emotions distort the information both in memories and communications.
Communication is also a relevant field. I'm often present it; what is the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful genius? The successful talent can present and sell the knowledge that (s)he has.
The success has different factors: the ability to tell with clear sentences, and the ability to evoke feelings on the most essential parts.
These pieces of training will be the main focus for the next year, but parallel, I started an investigation regarding the evolution of the organization.
Here we arrive at the central question of this article. What is beyond organizational culture?
I think the environment around the organization. Most of the economy is built around innovation. How we can serve needs better, independently from the fact it is a real or artificial generated need.
As we are living in a more complex world, we need to find solutions to solve the needs in a more sophisticated way. We need to consider more and more view angles.
To have a sustainable business, we need to extend our focus. It is like a takeoff with an airplane. I love to watch the environment from the cabin as the plane increases its height. We have the same job for the corporate strategy. The companies, which found the wisdom in the past, were successful in the ages of the financial crisis. The key to success is sustainability. Their business model independent of time and economy. Their independence comes from the self-sustainable business model.
Everyone has roles and purpose or reason for being. From the children, until the last years of the elders. We are humans, so you can find an unhappy person there, but the main difference is that it is a partial state, not continuous.
To better understand future needs, we need to check the future of the economy. As no future without the past, we need to check the different aspects of the economy.
I did the same in the past month. I started reading about different economics. From Buddhist economics through Islam economics to the base concepts of western economics.
As we are in the globalization, we cannot ignore any of these concepts. We must be relevant to all of them.
If we consider the intersection of these concepts, we can sustainably serve all needs. Alone many of these concepts ignored fundamental principles, which both rational and religious.
Optimistic goal to have a state when we are complete. It is more a journey which never ends, so try to prepare and enjoy it!
